Iranian Film Festival of Czech goes on in Brno

Festival of Iranian Film in Czech Republic continues in Brno.

The 6th edition of the Festival of Iranian Film in Czech Republic has continued in Brno.

The event went on in the Czech city of Brno with a screening of some 20 films from Iranian cinema on January 17-18.

The Czech event also paid tribute to the Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami with a screening of his movie ‘Like Someone in Love’ on January 15 in Prague.

‘Valderama’ directed by Abbas Amini received the Best Film Award selected by the jury at this edition of the event and the award for the Best Film selected by the audience went to ‘The Salesman’ by acclaimed Iranian director Asghar Farhadi.

The international jury panel of the festival includes Iranian director Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, international director and critic Ronald Bergan and Czech producer Jan Macola.

The main part of the festival screened 10 movies in the competition section, including ‘I’ by Soheil Beiraqi, ‘Immortal’ by Hadi Mohaqeq, ‘The Salesman’ by Asghar Farhadi, ‘Sound and Fury’ by Houman Seyyedi, ‘Valderama’ by Abbas Amini, and ‘Nahid’ by Ida Panahandeh.

It also screened six documentaries from Iran, including ‘Sonita’ by Rokhsareh Qaemmaqami, ‘Starless Dreams’ by Mehrdad Oskouei, and ‘Mr. Jobless’ by Ali Hamraz.

Another section of the event dedicated to Iranian documentaries displayed six works, including ‘Aram’ by Fereshteh Parnian, ‘Gambler’ by Karim Lakzadeh, ‘Elegy’ by Yousef Kargar, ‘Survival’ by Masoud Hatami, and ‘Ardak’ by Esmaeil Monsef.

The 6th edition of the Festival of Iranian Film in Czech was held on January 10-15 and January 17-18, in Prague and Brno, respectively, while it is slated to be continued in Bratislava.
